Treatment of crops against weeds

The first treatment is carried out approximately five days after planting. It consists of loosening the rows and harrowing.
If necessary, a second treatment is also performed. The operating principle is the same.
These types of work are carried out to get rid of weeds early.

Getting rid of diseases and pests

When growing potatoes, it is important to create a system of protection against diseases and pests. These measures contribute to the rapid growth and maturation of plants and reduce the possibility of them being damaged by harmful organisms.

The most common potato disease is late blight. The first treatment occurs when the tops grow 30 cm. The second – immediately before flowering.
Extermination is carried out using the following drugs: Ridomil Gold MC, Oksikhom, Ridomil MC.
It is important to use drugs if the plant is not infected.
Tubers can be susceptible to diseases such as scab and fomoz. To avoid infection, it is necessary to harvest the crop after the tops die.
Another potato disease is Alternaria blight. But if the crop has been treated against late blight, then this disease is not dangerous. The drugs introduced are already fighting it.

Pest control

The main pest of potatoes is the Colorado potato beetle. There are a huge variety of drugs available to combat it. The most modern and safest for humans:
– Aktara;
– Kinmiks;
– Match;
– Fury;
– Mospilan and many others.
You can spray the crop in several ways: both trailed and self-propelled sprayers.
It is important to remember that it is advisable to alternate drugs, because harmful organisms can adapt to them.

There are general measures that ensure the successful development of potato plots:

• Crop rotation. Potatoes can be grown in the old place no earlier than three years later. This prevents diseases such as: nematode, rhizoctaniasis, scab.
• The soil must contain enough humus. This is necessary for high digestibility of microelements and substances.
• Early planting of crops at optimal temperature and sowing depth.
• Uniform distribution of plants across the field.
• Selection of varieties that allow high yields.
• Timely disposal of pests and diseases.
